Thought it might be cool if we had a hall of fame section in the forums. Within it, we could have a League HOF where we would post all of our league awards (stanley cup, calder trophy, etc), then a section where we can all vote for a Hall of Fame for each year. Maybe something like 4 retired players a year.. have a vote for all nominated kinda thing. We can put together a couple of in-league awards as well. (GM of the year, most improved, best trader) all voted on by all the members of the league.
Then within the same forum, each team can have thier own HOF thread where we can post retired numbers, and inductees into our own personal team's hall of fame.
Just a little extra fun I guess, if anyone likes that. I can keep care of the forum itself once its made, keep it tidy and update everything as it happens.

Retired numbers probably wouldn't work - there are no player numbers!

I guess you could always use the players real number as their retired number. And since there are no numbers, we don't really have to be concerned about another player wanting it.
But if we want to do such a thing, I think retired numbers and a team hall of fame could be seperate. I mean, I'd put Saku Koivu in Montrea's team hall of fame, but I wouldn't retire his number. Same with the Sedins in Vancouver, or Phillips in Ottawa. Alfredsson *might* be worthy, while Iginla would be worthy.
For an EHM league, since there's always a ton of trades going on, I'd suggest that no player can enter the team hall of fame without a certain number of games. Say, 125? (100 for goalies?) - playoff and regular season.
For a retired jersey though, you'd want to increase that to maybe 250 or something. If we have a section like this, we have to be able to get players into it - but we can't make it too easy.

I was just going to make it up to the discretion of each team, as they'd have thier own specific thread anyway. The NHL is kind of like that as well, I know some people who feel certain players should have retired numbers or be in the NHL HOF for whatever reason and they aren't, whereas others some may say are less deserving. We also don't have 20+ seasons of history with our teams, as some have made them thier own, and some people will choose not to use real-life NHL history when deciding who to put in thier HOF. We will only have 1 season of history after this season, whereas in real-life you've got teams with 30+ years of player history you know what I mean?
I would just suggest that everyone try to keep it as realistic as they can with whatever team history they decide to go with.
Because for example, if Mike Modano were to retire next year, I dont necessarily have 10+ seasons with him on Colorado, but if he captained my team to a cup, and put up point-per-game numbers, I'd probably want him in Colorado's HOF sort of thing. So I'd say up to discretion of each GM.
