[glow=green,2,300]Stars Hire New GM[/glow] 11/24/10
Today it was announced by Stars ownership that they have found someone to fill the position of general manager. They have placed the organization in the hands of Mr. Duane. Details of the deal were not released.
Here is what Mr. Duane had to say:
"I'm extremely excited to be the new GM of the Dallas Stars. I can't wait to get started and get this team going in a new direction.
I was in contact with a handful of other teams before I decided I would sign with Dallas. I won't name the teams but some were in a lot better situations than Dallas. Once I looked this team over and seen where they were at I knew this was where I wanted to be. The reason being I wanted to build something myself and not simply add to someone else's work.
This team needs a lot of work. I'm not going to sugarcoat that. There are some good pieces and some bad pieces in place here and my job for the foreseeable future will be to get rid of the bad ones and replace them with good ones.
I'm already in the process of scouting our pro and farm teams. We don't have a large prospect pool but they will be looked at too. We need to learn what our identity is and what we want it to be. Our head coaches Marc and Glen will be invaluable with that.
Well, enough talk. It's time to get down to business!"

[glow=red,2,300]The Building Begins[/glow]
12-4-10
Pending league approval it seems that the Dallas Stars and Buffalo Sabres have completed a trade. The trade has defenseman Derek Forbort along with forwards Tomas Vincour and Curtis Mckenzie going to Buffalo. Making their way to Dallas are forward Tyler Ennis and defenseman John Moore. Dallas is also to receive the following draft picks: NYI 1st 2012, Buff 2nd 2012, Buff 3rd 2012, Buff 3rd 2013.
More to come on this later...

22 year old Canadian forward Tyler Ennis may be having what some call the "sophomore slump". Through 24 games this year he has managed only a single point and has yet to record a goal. He has also posted a -5 rating so far. Last year as a rookie Ennis posted 10 goals and 26 points along with a nice +17 rating. So what happened? An ever diminishing role and less minutes could be credited for the off year.
"This kid has more to give then what his year has shown. We really like this guy and think he is going to have a positive impact on our team. He has a lot heart. It would be impossible for someone of his size to make it to the NHL without it. I think he going to be fine." Said GM Duane.
Strong play his rookie season earned him a roster spot on team Canada for the 2011 World Championships. Here is what he said after he learned of the trade.
"I guess it's not surprising. I haven't been having the greatest year so far. Maybe a change will be a good thing. I can't wait to meet my new team and get settled in."
The other player making his way to Dallas in this deal is defenseman John Moore. The 21 year old has spent the year with Rochester of the AHL and has put up some respectable numbers. His 2 goals and 13 points shows he can get involved in the offensive zone. His +12 and 6 PIM also goes to prove his discipline in his own zone.
"This young man has drive. That's what stood out to me. He wants to be in the NHL. He has decent size and is good in both zones. He is a great asset to our organization." Commented GM Duane
The American also has some experience at the international level having twice represented Team USA at the World Junior Championships. In 10 games he has 2 goals and 8 points. In 2011 he helped the Americans to the silver medal.
The deal with Buffalo also has Dallas receiving 4 draft picks: NYI 1st 2012, Buff 2nd 2012, Buff 3rd 2012, Buff 3rd 2013.
"I was really excited to get this deal done and finalized. I love the guys we got in this deal and the draft picks I just can't wait to use." Said the GM with a big smile on his face. "What I am trying to accomplish here in Dallas with this trade is to start to establish a brand of hockey here that all the NHL will recognize when they play the stars. That is that this team brings it every night. I want every one of the 29 other teams that when they see the Dallas stars on their schedule they know they have a tough night ahead of them because we are the hardest working team in the NHL."
