No matter what type of waiver draft we would go forward with (although I agree, if it would be a permanent fix, the possibilities would be quite vast), the non-human teams would in a season or two become what they once were. They'd be overpaying for big name players, losing out on 2-way contracts, and not being able to develop or accurately choose draft picks. I do agree with that; part of what I figured was to combine solutions. Some have talked about controlling 2 teams, and that could still happen with a waiver draft, although it obviously means more work for GMs with 2 teams (but it also means things run more smoothly - a GM with 2 teams is usually a more devoted GM, one who will actually show up, as opposed to us slackers with just 1 team). The other part of it, I figured, was marketing. You go to those fhockey forums or whatnot and say come on, check us out, we'll be doing a waiver draft at the end of the next season, so pick a team and get ready for it. I think we'll gain GMs who just want to experience the novelty of such a thing, but others who might stay away (because they aren't happy starting with a team that is so clearly not theirs, or the real team) might come around just from knowing they'd be able to quickly and easily build the team the way they want to.

It's far from a perfect solution, but I feel like it could be the least-bad solution.

Well maybe controlling two teams so that making offers, lines, training etc. for another team, but Im always against if same GM makes trades with two teams.
